Durham Climate Roundtable

Established in 2022, the Durham Climate Roundtable was established to address climate challenges. The Brilliant Energy Institute acts as the facilitator and administrator of this committee in our role as the secretariat. This collaborative platform brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including local government officials, environmental organizations, businesses, and community leaders, to develop and implement sustainable solutions for mitigating climate change.

The Durham Climate Roundtable fosters open dialogue and collaboration among participants. By facilitating discussions on challenges, best practices, collaborative strategies, and effective policies, the Roundtable aims to ensure that the committee members leverage Durham’s resources and expertise to achieve significant environmental impacts.

The Durham Climate Roundtable is an example of the power created community-driven action in addressing global climate change issues. By uniting various sectors and fostering discussion, the Roundtable is not only contributing to the local fight against climate change but also setting an example for other regions to follow.

Annually, the Region of Durham Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and Progress Towards Net-Zero Climate Targets is released by the Roundtable. This report provides a public-facing, comprehensive inventory of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Durham Region, including emissions inventory data as well as sectoral and jurisdictional analysis.
